How does Betdaq compare to exchange betting rivals?
In the race for the exchange betting markets, Betdaq has long been established as the main challenger to Betfair. The emergence of Matchbook and Smarkets has increased the pressure on Betdaq’s market share. Now under the ownership of Ladbrokes, we look at Betdaq and see how they shape up to their market rivals.

Betdaq History
Betdaq was founded in 2000 and is the second largest betting exchange operator in the UK. Its registered office is in Alderney and Betdaq is the trading name of the Global Betting Exchange Alderney Ltd (GBEA). In 2011, Betdaq Games were integrated into the network following an agreement with CryptoLogic Incorporation company GTS.
Betdaq also invested in high profile sponsorship programmes with Kempton Park racecourse, Celtic Football Club and London Irish Rugby Club. The following year, a micro-site was set up to provide live streaming NFL matches from America. The company was purchased by Ladbrokes for 30million Euros in 2013.

Betdaq promotions
Ladbrokes have been slow to drive the company forwards. The introduction of a 2% commission rate compares very favourably with the 5% typically charged by Betfair. However, Matchbook’s offer of 0% commission for new customers until the end of 2018 has ramped up the pressure.
Betdaq has a dedicated section on promotions, for both new and existing customers. New customers will receive their first month’s commission back up to £1,000 as withdrawal funds. Remember to enter the code DAQBACK when you register.
Horse racing fans can get a 20% boost on net winnings on Saturday’s ITV racing coverage. This is open to all customers and all you need to do is enter the code TVR18. When you place a bet on ITV or ITV4 racing, you will receive a 20% boost on any winnings which is returned as a free horse racing bet up to a maximum £20. You can only claim one free bet each weekend and the bet must be placed within 7 days.
If you play Virtual Sports, you can claim up to £10 of your week’s losses back for the weekend using code VS2018. If you haven’t played the virtuals before, you can get a free £10 bet if your first £10 bet is a loser (code V1010). Register for Betdaq Casino and you will receive a £30 bonus when you stake £10. Full terms and conditions for all Betdaq promotions are on the website.
Betdaq plans for expansion
Betdaq has remained ahead of the more recent betting exchange companies not only because of their existing customer base, but also because of their enormous range of betting markets. You can click on any of the day’s horse races from the main page to bring up the latest prices.
Registered customers have access to Proform Racing guide, a relatively new addition to the site. The Proform Stats may leave novice punters rather bewildered and it is debatable how much they bring to the Betdaq betting experience. There are win, place, each-way and additional place markets. There are also icons for cash out and multiple bet options.
The football section is even more comprehensive, covering a massive range of leagues across the world. Click on your chosen fixture to bring up an equally impressive range of betting markets which can be viewed as fixed odds if preferred. Betdaq boast similarly wide coverage of golf, tennis, rugby and other popular sports.
With Matchbook and Smarkets emerging as serious rivals, Betdaq have pledged to address the problems of low liquidity and poor customer service. By extending the liquidity pool to Coral, it is expected to increase markedly while Ladbrokes’ access to other brands also brings opportunities for expansion.
